Dot symbol questions
What is the dot symbol?
"Dot symbol" covers many Unicode characters: the bullet •, the middle dot ·, the dot operator ⋅, circles like ● and ○, and emoji such as 🔴. They look alike but have different code points, sizes and uses. This page lists all of them so you can copy the right one.
How do I type a bullet point dot on the keyboard?
On Windows hold Alt and type 0149 on the number pad. On Mac press Option + 8. On iPhone, long-press the hyphen key. Or just click • above to copy it.
What's the difference between • and ·?
• (bullet, U+2022) is bigger and is meant for lists. · (middle dot, U+00B7) is smaller and is used as a separator between words. See the side-by-side comparison above.
Will these dots work on Instagram, WhatsApp and TikTok?
Yes. They are plain Unicode text, not images, so they paste anywhere that accepts text. Colored dot emoji (🔴🟢) look slightly different on each platform.
Can I copy the HTML code instead of the symbol?
Yes. Use the "Copy as" switch above the grid to copy HTML entities, CSS escapes or Unicode code points instead of the character itself.
